Social Good: Black Voters Matter
Meet February’s Round-Up Donation recipient: Black Voters Matter
LaTosha Brown and Cliff Albright founded Black Voters Matter in 2016 with the purpose of building power in marginalized, predominantly Black communities. With all of the appalling efforts currently underway to suppress voters, Black Voters Matter felt like an especially timely organization to direct our round-up donations toward during Black History Month. As much as we wish that the kind of disenfranchisement and voter suppression that people protested during the Civil Rights Era was relegated to the annals of history, the same attempts to diminish Black voters' voices are very much at play today. Black Voters Matter is committed to fighting the good fight through voter registration and get-out-the-vote efforts, upholding and strengthening the Voting Rights Act of 1965, and humanitarian aid projects like creating COVID relief funds in the communities they serve.
